    Why nearshore LatAm

North American companies hire nearshore in Latin America for four compounding reasons: a working day that overlaps by four to eight hours, a large and growing engineering talent pool, costs 40% to 60% below US equivalents, and cultural and business proximity that reduces onboarding friction.

    Overlap beats hourly rate

Teams that moved from offshore to nearshore rarely cite price as the reason. They cite the cost of asynchronous handoffs: a question that takes ten minutes to answer takes a day to resolve when the answer arrives while everyone is asleep.

    Depth of the talent pool

Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Mexico and Uruguay each graduate large cohorts of engineers annually, and a decade of regional product companies has produced senior professionals who have already scaled systems, not only maintained them.

Where nearshore is not the answer

Roles requiring physical presence, security clearance, or deep familiarity with a specific US regulatory regime are better hired locally. Being explicit about this is part of the advice we give before a search starts.
